Brunswick Community College Softball Pitching/Catching Camp

Beginner Pitching/Catching Camp: Beginning pitchers will be taught a progression to warmup their bodies, along with drills to work on at home. We are requiring a parent or coach to be present to catch and absorb information for pitchers.

Beginning catchers will need catchers equipment for the clinic. Catchers will learn framing, blocking, bunt coverage, throw downs and drills to work on at home.

Advanced Pitching/Catching Camp: Advance pitchers will be given two drills specific to a pitch they want to improve. Pitchers will also go through two drills they can do with their catcher. There will be a discussion on recruiting of pitchers during the last 20 mins. It is suggested that pitchers bring their own catcher.

Advance catchers will be working on blocking, framing, bunt coverage and throw downs for the first portion of the camp. Then, catchers will catch live in order to practice the skills with a pitcher.

Catchers will also go through a recruiting talk towards the end of the camp.

Pitchers: Zoe Howard (Fayetteville State University, Brunswick Community College) and Amanda White (Meredith College, Brunswick Community College) will work with pitchers on the fundamentals of pitching from basic mechanics to advanced spins as well as conditioning workouts to increase leg drive and velocity.

Catchers: Bernadette Cardon (Marion Military Institute, United States Military Academy, Brunswick Community College) and Samantha Smith (Salem College, Brunswick Community College) will work with catchers on the essentials of blocking, framing, and throwdowns as well as knowledge of pitch calling in order to improve their knowledge of the game.
